The Great Plywood Mounting Experiment!

Hay there, my lovely two-legged friends! Toby here, back with another important update from the stable. You all know I take my role as Chief ezehay Tester very seriously, and this week, my humans (well, mostly Sam) have been up to something rather clever!

So, what’s the big news? We’ve found an innovative way to mount my ezehay feeder when there’s no solid wall to attach it to! Yep, even if your stable is all bars and no bricks, you can still install your favourite ezehay feeder safely and securely. Let me tell you all about it…

The Plywood Plan 🛠️

My humans (okay, Sam) got a big ol’ sheet of plywood – about 1.1 metres square – and decided to turn it into a solid mounting surface for my ezehay feeder. This way, instead of needing a brick or wooden wall, the plywood acts as a sturdy base that can be fixed to stable bars. Genius, right? I supervised, obviously.

Sam carefully measured everything (while I helpfully tried to eat the tape measure) and cut the plywood to size. Once that was done, she made sure the edges were nice and smooth—because no one wants splinters in their stable, do they?

Then came the fun part: attaching the plywood to my stable bars. Sam used strong U-bolts to secure the board firmly to the bars so it wouldn’t wobble or move when I tuck into my hay. Once that was in place, the ezehay feeder was mounted onto the plywood, just like you would on a regular wall. And voila! A perfect feeding station, even in a stable where solid walls aren’t an option.

My Official Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well, let me tell you, I was the first to give this new setup a try (obviously). I gave it a good nudge, tested its durability with some enthusiastic munching, and I must say – it passed with flying colours! The board stayed put, my hay was neatly contained, and it was just as easy to use as ever.

Thomas, Quality Assurance, tried it out too. He liked it, as I’m one side of the bars and usually I stand and stare at him while he’s eating his hay. When the ezehay feeder is on the bars, I can’t see through to him. He doesn’t like me looking at him—can’t think why? In some stables, I think you’d put an ezehay feeder on both sides so we both had one in the same place, but I’m happy where mine is already.

For those of you with stables with bars or where the walls aren’t quite right for fixing things directly, this plywood mounting solution is a game-changer. Now, no matter where you are, your horse can enjoy their ezehay feeder without any trouble.

How to Install Your ezehay Feeder with a Plywood Mount

If you fancy trying this for your own stable, here’s how you can do it:

What You’ll Need:

  • 1.1m x 1.1m sheet of plywood (or size to fit your stable bars)

  • Sandpaper (to smooth edges)

  • U-bolts (to secure the board to the bars)

  • Drill (for making holes)

  • Screws & washers

  • Your ezehay feeder

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Cut your plywood sheet to the required size (or ask your local timber yard to cut it for you!).

  2. Sand down the edges to make sure they’re smooth and splinter-free.

  3. Hold the plywood against the stable bars and mark where you want to attach it.

  4. Drill holes in the plywood to match where the U-bolts will go around the bars.

  5. Secure the plywood to the bars using the U-bolts, making sure it’s tightly fixed.

  6. Mount your ezehay feeder onto the plywood using screws and washers.

  7. Fill it with hay and let your horse enjoy!

Easy, right? Even my humans managed it without too much trouble (and with only minimal interference from me).

So, there you have it! A fantastic new way to mount your ezehay feeder when a solid wall isn’t an option. Give it a try, and let me know what you think—I’m always happy to hear from my fellow equine pals.

Until next time, keep munching happily!

He’s been Sam’s loyal companion for 20 years, and if there’s a horse who can test the limits of anything, it’s him. Cheeky, bold, and determined, Toby is ezehay’s Chief Tester. With a knack for breaking, bending, and outsmarting anything in his path, Toby’s the reason we know ezehay can stand up to even the most inquisitive, strong-willed horses. If it passes Toby’s test, it’s built to last!
